General Information

This section provides background information for making the most of our training courses and events, such as registration and cancellation policies, how to become accredited and certified in your field of expertise.

PRIVATE TRAINING ESTABLISHMENT

 

EMA Learning is registered by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) as a private training establishment under the Education Act 1989, and its subsequent amendments.  The EMA Business School is a unit within EMA Learning.  We provide education, training and assessment in a variety of domains that make up the New Zealand Qualifications ‘Framework’.  The accreditation within these domains allows EMA Learning to assess participants against NZQA Unit Standards, up to Level 6 in some domains, and successful participants can claim credits for NZQA’s Record of Achievement.

EMA Learning reserves the right to add, reschedule or replace presenters and/or vary advertised courses, events, prices and venues. Should a course fail to attract a minimum number of learners, we reserve the right to cancel.

Early Bird Rate for EMA Members:
Early Bird Rate is for EMA Members registering 1 month before the course starts.

Restricted Numbers:
Places are restricted (max ratio 1:20) to ensure involvement and high delivery standards which allows every participant to achieve course aims.

Minimum Number of Participants:
Should a course fail to attract the minimum number of participants (4) we reserve the right to cancel. In such circumstances we offer the following alternative arrangements at the time of cancellation:

  • Transfer to the next available course within the region or Auckland
  • An in-house one-on-one two hour session for the same price as the course fee

Value:
Fees are detailed within each course description. EMA Member businesses are offered a special discount reflected in the quoted pricing. Value includes -

  • Full course resource manual including associated resources
  • Classroom facilitation
  • Marking of assignments and tests for unit stanadards and NZQF qualifications 
  • Daily lunch and refreshments (as appropriate)

EMA Members ONLY - The value includes:

  • FREE assessment of the Unit Standard detailed within each course where one applies. Assessment of further NZQF Unit Standards will attract a fee.

CANCELLATION AND REF​UND POL​ICY FOR TRAINING COUR​SES

We require five clear working days notice of a cancellation to approve a refund less 10% administration fee or transfer to another course. If you are unable to give such notice, we would be happy for you to arrange for another person to attend on the day. Unless such notice is given within this time frame, full course fees are payable and refunds will not be given.

Registrations that are cancelled with less than five working days notice will not be eligible for a transfer to another date, or refund.

Should a course fail to attract a minimum number of participants, we reserve the right to cancel it.   

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY FOR ONLINE COURSES 
Cancellation of registration on an online course at EMA Learning is not permitted and does not allow for a refund once the login details to the online course have been provided to the course participant.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY FOR EVENTS AND CONFERENCES

EMA requires ten clear working days notice of a cancellation to allow for a refund. Unless otherwise stated a 10% administration charge will apply. If you are unable to give such notice you may arrange another person to attend in your place. Unless such notice is given, full conference fees are payable and refunds will not be given. However you can still receive the conference documentation.

EMA reserves the right to add, reschedule or substitute speakers and/or vary advertised programs, prices and venues.

Should a conference or event fail to attract a required minimum number of participants we reserve the right to cancel it.

Thrive
For the event type "Thrive" there are no exchanges or refunds except as required by law.  If you are unable to attend, you can provide a substitute.  If a refund is made, the Employers and Manufacturers Association (Northern) may retain an administration fee. 

EMA reserves the right to add, withdraw, reschedule or substitute speakers and/or vary advertised programmes.

ON COURSE/EVENT DAY 

Registration

Registration opens 30 minutes before the course/event commencement. Allow yourself time to unwind and enjoy a pre-training/event coffee.

Parking

Auckland Premises Parking: On-site parking is available but not guaranteed at our Auckland premises at 145 Khyber Pass Road. Alternative car parking, within walking distance, may be available on Boston Road, or the public car park at the corner of Burleigh Street and Khyber Pass Road, entrance from Burleigh Street (see map here).

Out-of-town Parking: Details of parking at venues other than EMA Auckland will be advised separately.

CERTIFICATION FOR EMA TRAINING COURSES

EMA Certificate of Attendance

Automatically provided when attending a workshop or course. Certificates of Attendance can be provided for other events upon request.

New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) Record of Achievement

On successful completion of the assessment requirements of a NZQF Unit Standard results will be reported to NZQA for inclusion on your New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) Record of Achievement held by NZQA. EMA Training Centre will also issue a PDF certificate upon request for your records.

ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY 

EMA will accept personal information provided by you on this site, particularly in relation to online course registration, online registration for events and from inquiries.  EMA may from time to time collect additional information about you on this web site.  Such information will only be used for the purpose of providing or enhancing EMA’s products and services to you.  We will not supply your information to any third party without your prior agreement.

The EMA reserves the right to contact you regarding your attendance at our events for purposes including post-event survey, information updates, speaker materials, attendance appreciation, potential membership opportunitiesand related sponsor or marketing material.

As required by the Privacy Act 1993, we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us to prevent unauthorized access. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we are able to disclose sensitive information to you.

BOOKING AND PURCHASING EMA PRODUCTS ONLINE

 

Credit card payment is available online in real time. You will be informed immediately if your credit card is declined. If declined, you may check the accuracy of the credit card number and expiration date, or choose a different card to try.

Your registration or booking will be submitted immediately for activation once you completed your online payment. Your credit card details will NOT be retained by EMA after the transaction.

ONLINE SECURITY POLICY

 

EMA’s online payment facility is provided by Direct Payment Solution (DPS), using their Payment Express software.  The facility supports all major credit cards including Visa, American Express, Diners Club and MasterCard as well as all banks in New Zealand (ANZ, ASB, BNZ, National Bank, Westpac).

Security of the payment facility is enabled via the 3 Data Encryption Standard (3DES) encryption protocol.  3DES is a widely-used method of data encryption using a private (secret) key judged so difficult to break by the U.S. government that it was restricted for exportation to other countries. There are 72,000,000,000,000,000 (72 quadrillion) or more possible encryption keys that can be used. DES applies a 56-bit key to each 64-bit block of data. 3DES applies three keys in succession making it relatively impenetrable.

Although we are confident your Credit card and anonymity are protected, EMA (Northern) makes no warranty in respect of the strength or effectiveness of the encryption used and EMA Northern does not take responsibility for events arising from unauthorised access of the information you provide. 

To check the security of your connection, look at the lower right-hand corner of your browser window after accessing the server. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending on your browser),then SSL is active and your transaction is being conducted in secure mode. You can also double-check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https."
