Employers and Manufacturers Association (EMA) Northern - Not too late to Fix the Bill

Not too late to Fix the Bill

16 Aug 2018
EMA is holding a public meetings in Tauranga, Rotorua and Hamilton for employers to gain a better understanding of the raft of industrial relations changes being proposed.

There are several pieces of legislation currently progressing through the legislative process which business owners will need to understand.

“We want to ensure employers, especially the myriad of smaller regional businesses, are aware of what changes are being proposed,” says Kim Campbell, CEO, EMA.

“We wholeheartedly agree with the Government’s goal of developing a modern, nimble and high performing economy. But we are puzzled by how the proposed changes to the industrial relations framework will achieve this.

“Our members, and the wider business community, deserves an explanation on how this proposed legislation will help them grow their business, increase productivity and thereby enable sustainable wage growth.

“We’ve been seeking an explanation from the Government on these proposed changes will take the country forward, but have yet to receive an answer.

“There’s still time for business owners to raise their concerns with their local Government politicians before some of this proposed legislation is passed into law in the next few months. It’s not too late to ask Government to fix the bill, however this will be your last chance,” says Mr Campbell.

The public meetings are being held in Tauranga and Rotorua on Monday, August 20 and in Hamilton on Thursday, August 23 further event details can be found here.
