Who’s this course for?

Foundation: Know, Comprehend and Apply

As an
employer, are you struggling with challenging situations in managing your people? This one-day course will give you the confidence to know whether performance management or a disciplinary process is the right option. Know the procedures and avoid the pitfalls.

What you’ll learn:
When faced with employment relationship problems you need to ensure procedural fairness at all times. This introductory course teaches you what to do to comply with the law and minimise your risk of personal grievance claims. It will teach you how to identify whether a performance management or a disciplinary track is needed.

You’ll learn how to set standards and monitor performance in a feedback loop. And you’ll gain the knowledge to create a performance improvement plan, understand the importance of each element in a disciplinary process and how to act in ‘good faith’.

After, you’ll be able to…

  • Recognise your employment law obligations when confronted by staff performance issues
  • Identify whether you need to create a performance improvement plan or begin a disciplinary process
  • Understand the concept of ‘good faith’
  • Confidently apply your response and follow the rules of procedural fairness.
