Who’s this course for?

This introductory to intermediate-level course is ideal for those new to payroll or in need of a refresher. It delivers an effective working knowledge of legal requirements, helping ensure payroll processes are compliant.

This course has a perfect partner in the shape of our Managing Employee Leave course, which focuses on the Holidays Act 2003 and the essentials of leave calculations and entitlements.

What you’ll learn:

Managing payroll can be complex, and even experienced practitioners can benefit from guidance on the details. This useful one-day course shows how to interpret and apply the legislation to your payroll, with systems and processes to maintain accuracy in all calculations. The focus is on wage-related legislation, including the Employment Relations Act 2000, Minimum Wage Act 1983 and KiwiSaver Act 2006.

After, you’ll be able to…

  • Meet employer obligations relating to the payroll function
  • Ensure payments are made in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Reduce your risk of erroneous calculations requiring back payments
  • Apply best practice to ensure payroll-related records are fully compliant.

Note: Our Managing Employee Leave course focuses on the Holidays Act and calculating moving entitlement dates, part-weeks, holiday and termination pay.
