Who’s this course for?

If you are an experienced trainer wanting to hone your skills and design better education solutions, this programme is ideal. You’ll learn theories and techniques that will boost your skills in content design, facilitation and assessment.

What’s included?

  • Recognise and adapt to diverse cultural needs and student learning styles, when designing and facilitating programmes
  • Understand and apply adult learning theories
  • Evaluate your training sessions to assess their impact and continually improve their effectiveness
  • Understand the principles of assessment design and moderation, and use Training Needs Analysis to target courses to specific groups of learners.

What you’ll learn:

Grounded in adult learning theory, this programme has everything you need to take your performance in adult education and training to a very high level. The course will broaden your understanding of cultural and learning needs, giving you the skills necessary to tailor your training for individuals and groups of adult learners.
Comprising four two-day training blocks, the course will build your knowledge in a number of areas, including the design, moderation and evaluation of assessments. You’ll also gain the ability to prepare candidates for standards-based assessments.


Note: This is not a NZQA approved course. The EMA is currently preparing programme approval and accreditation applications to gain NZQA approval to deliver the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 4). In the meantime, learners who achieve the unit standards attached to this course will have this added to their NZ Record of Achievement from NZQA.
