Who’s this course for?

This course is purpose-designed for Health & Safety Representatives who have completed Stage 1 training. It is also suitable for Health & Safety committee members, or anyone with an interest in, or responsibility for, workplace Health & Safety.

What’s included?

  • Revision of Stage 1 Essential Training
  • Gathering and interpreting accident and injury data
  • Health & Safety management systems: internal audit or self-assessment
  • Hazard identification (body mapping) and management, including how to control specific hazards using codes of practice and guidelines.

What you’ll learn:

This advanced training course reviews the role of the Health and Safety Representative and builds on the skills, knowledge and competencies developed in Essential Training for Health & SafetyRepresentatives (Stage 1).

Over the course of two days this programme provides Health & Safety Representatives with all they need to know about the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, supporting Health & Safety regulations, and their duties as a Health and Safety Representative. It’s there perfect refresher for previous training.

After, you’ll be able to…


  • Effectively perform in a workplace Health & Safety role, including discharge of duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
  • Understand Health & Safety regulations and guidance material
  • Identify hazards and risks, and control them
  • Use accident data to identify trends 
  • Conduct internal self-assessments or audits to prevent injuries.​



This programme’s content covers outcomes relevant to the following unit standards, which individual learners may choose to continue working towards in their workplace.
