Who’s this course for?

The NEBOSH IGC is Internationally accepted as the premier safety course for those wishing to build a career in Occupational Safety and Health. It also provides a good foundation in health and safety for managers, supervisors and staff with health and safety among their day to day responsibilities. Successful completion of the NEBOSH IGC meets the academic requirements for acceptance by IOSH – the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health –  for Technician Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH).

What’s included?

This blended learning NEBOSH IGC has proved to be a successful delivery method, as learners are provided with access to the excellent distance learning materials, which are then reinforced during three face-to-face blocks (2 x 2 days and 1 x 1 day). This ensures that support is provided to ensure a more effective learning experience. 

  • Access to Distance learning materials shortly after enrolling

  • Four days of face to face classroom tuition from an experienced NEBOSH trainer

  • One-day face-to-face examination/revision workshop.

Block 1 (2 days): IGC1: Management of International Health and Safety 
    • Foundations in Health and Safety

    • Health and Safety Management Systems - Plan

    • Health and Safety Management Systems - Do

    • Health and Safety Management Systems - Check

    • Health and Safety Management Systems – Act 

Block 2
(2 days): GC2: Control of International Workplace Hazards

    • Workplace Hazards and Risk Control

    • Transport Hazards and Risk Control

    • Musculoskeletal Hazards and Risk Control

    • Work Equipment Hazards and Risk Control

    • Electrical Safety

    • Fire Safety

    • Chemical and Biological Health Hazards and Risk Control

    • Physical and Psychological Health Hazards and Risk Control

​Block 3 (1 day): 
GC3: Practical assessment            
    • Guidance on the application of the five steps to risk assessment in a workplace

    • General revision and examination techniques

  • IGC1 is assessed through a two-hour examination in the morning of the examination day

  • GC2 is assessed through a two-hour examination in the afternoon of the examination day

  • GC3 is assessed through the submission of a report that must be received within two weeks of the examination day.

The examinations are conducted by NEBOSH at various locations around New Zealand the fee for this is not included in the price. 

What you’ll learn:

The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) covers the principles relating to health and safety, identification and control of workplace hazards and the practical application of this knowledge.  The IGC syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international standards, such as the International Labour Organisation (ILO) codes of practice.  New Zealand laws and cultural factors may form part of the study programme where relevant and appropriate.
