Technology is changing the way we think and operate. Come on a guided tour around the University of Auckland campus in Newmarket and hear fascinating developments from our two specialist presenters.

This site visit to the University’s Newmarket campus will be hosted by Professor Simon Bickerton of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The tour will include the following areas of the Newmarket campus:

  • Wind tunnel
  • Centre for Advanced Composite Materials
  • Light Metals Research Centre
  • Industry 4.0 Laboratory

Hear from presenters: 

Nathan Stantiall, Business Innovation Advisor at Callaghan Innovation
He will cover Industry 4.0; collaborative robots, lean thinking, research and development funding and highlights from the recent Hannover Messe exhibition which discussed the benefits of creating value in the manufacturing sector and the role of humans in tomorrow’s factories.

Professor Simon Bickerton, Director of the Centre for Advanced Composite Materials and Director of the Innovative Manufacturing and Materials programme at the University of Auckland

He will give an overview of the Innovative Manufacturing and Materials Programme, which addresses technology development, innovation implementation and idea generation and discovery. He will al​so report on the recent inaugural MaD for the Future 2017: A National Conference for Innovation in Manufacturing and Design and discuss the development of the national MaD Network.
