This course presents a practical approach to investigating workplace accidents: finding the root cause, conducting an investigation, and making effective recommendations to prevent similar occurrences from happening again.

Learn effective accident/incident investigation techniques to help identify hazards and associated risk, contributing towards a safer and more productive working environment. 

After, you’ll be able to…
  • Identify and explain the various types of risk
  • Describe the barriers to accident/ incident reporting and use techniques that can be employed to overcome the identified barriers
  • Conduct an investigation and undertake analysis, knowing how to collect evidence and interview witnesses to identify root cause.

NZQA Unit Standards (optional)

17601 Version  4, Level 4, Credits 6. Produce an occupational health and safety incident investigation.

Learners can expect to do an additional 53 hours of self-directed learning to complete this unit standard.​​
