Public holidays are provided for in the Holidays Act 2003. The Act sets out the minimum entitlements
to public holidays for all employees in New Zealand.

The Act lists the following days as public holidays:
Christmas Day
Boxing Day
New Year’s Day
2 January
Waitangi Day
Good Friday
Easter Monday
Queen’s Birthday (observed on the first Monday in June)
Labour Day (being the fourth Monday in October)
