Manufacturing is one of the most important sectors driving the country’s economy and building a thriving New Zealand through greater digitisation.
Our manufacturers – large and small – strive to be globally competitive and want to grow their businesses through collaboration, innovation and the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
A large part of this will be through adopting Industry 4.0 practices, which transform traditional operations and processes using the latest smart technology. These technologies help deliver improvements in safety, quality, productivity, delivery and asset management through connected systems that allow automated data flow and decision making. The EMA is part at the forefront of Industry 4.0, helping deliver the Industry 4.0 Demonstration Network led by Callaghan Innovation and in partnership with Beca. Find out more about how to get an assessment through our Network Site Visit programme. We are also aware that one of the major challenges manufacturers face is attracting people to the industry, and getting people with the right skills to ensure they can operate efficiently and productively. To help we have four young people talking about their journey. If you have any other queries, please get in touch through manufacturing@ema.co.nz
