NZ-UK Free Trade Agreement great achievement

May 05, 2023

The EMA says the announcement of the NZ-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is welcome news and will strengthen relationships for New Zealand exporters, in particular.

EMA Chief Executive Brett O’Riley says the agreement highlights that our country still provides a great investment environment.

“Two-way trade is between NZ and the UK is a good contributor to our economy and this deal enables that to continue and grow,” he says.

“Kiwi businesses can look forward to 99.5 per cent of current exports entering into the UK tariff-free from May 31, and 100 per cent tariff elimination for NZ exporters to the UK in coming times,” he says.

“Everyone involved in completing this deal should be congratulated for their efforts, which opens the door for a much close NZ-UK relationship.
