EMA Learning and the New Zealand School of Export Partnership
EMA Learning is pleased to offer you these new and exciting Export and International Business courses in 2010.
These courses build on the skills and experience of our 8 Export Fundamentals courses. These Export and International Business courses are for those who have either studied in the export field previously, or those who already have experience in international business.
We are committed to a world class export program and to achieve this we have chosen to partner with New Zealand’s export training leader - the New Zealand School of Export. This partnership affirms EMA Learning’s ongoing commitment to superior and practical qualifications that deliver real value for you and your business.
Our Export and International Business program can also form a part of a wider Certificate and/or Diploma of International Trade. These are immensely practical and internationally recognised qualifications. As a result of our partnership with the New Zealand School of Export, you will be offered the opportunity to continue on your course of study and conclude your time with us by becoming a graduate with Global Trade Professional status – the global standard.
The New Zealand School of Export
The New Zealand School of Export (NZSOE) is the only organisation in New Zealand to have achieved Accredited Provider status from the International Association of Trade Training Organisations (IATTO). As such, it is allowed to offer international qualifications which meet global professional standards.
NZSOE’s mission is to raise “the professional education of New Zealand exporters and those who support them in their role as exporters.” Therefore, the School chooses to focus on those already employed in exporting, and on their need to undertake practical work-based training with an immediate impact on business performance and profitability.
NZSOE staff are experts in their specialist areas, with both extensive commercial and training experience. Also, the School maintains a series of Adjunct Faculty and mentors, who are recognised leaders in their chosen professions such as logistics and air freight.
In addition, NZSOE is a Charitable Trust which has invested heavily in the development of an on-line Export Library & Information Service (ELIS). ELIS provides the most efficient searching for accurate and current exporting information. It does this by providing a single location for exporting information including everything from currency exchange rates, to finding out the time in other countries.
ELIS also hot-links to other sites such as NZTE and Market New Zealand, which provides additional information including Country Profiles and market summaries. In addition ELIS holds the country’s largest collection of New Zealand Export case studies and the School regularly adds to this through its own interview program. ELIS will be made available at to all attendees of the programmes offered under this partnership, a considerable added value to exporters.
International Association of Trade Training Organisations
The International Association of Trade Training Organisations (IATTO) was established in the UK in 1973 and has over 20 member countries (www.iatto.org) including many of New Zealand’s top export markets such as the UK, US, Canada and South Africa.
IATTO sets the global standard for professional training in international trade and is also the route to achieving the Global Trade Professional (GTP) designation.
IATTO has been supporting exporters in the UK, US, Canada and South Africa for over 35 years, and has helped tens of thousands of individuals and companies to increase exports.
IATTO will hold its Annual Global Forum in New Zealand in 2011 and will be hosted by the NZSOE. This major international event will follow the Rugby World Cup in October and will be an opportunity to showcase New Zealand companies to the world.
Global Trade Professional
As an additional learning pathway outcome, you will also be eligible to study towards the GTP. This is the global quality mark for those wishing to work in export/import as a career. It signifies that people holding the designation have completed the Diploma of International Trade, have at least two years experience in international trade and have committed to IATTO’s Code of Practice.
Learning Pathway to the Diploma of International Trade
By enrolling in the EMA Learning and NZSOE partnership program, you have the opportunity to participate in the eight modules of learning needed to achieve the international trade qualification: the Certificate and Diploma of International Trade.
Additionally, and as a feature solely available under the partnership, you are able to attend classroom learning as part of this course of study (the Diploma is usually offered through distance education only) as each of the eight modules of the Diploma is offered as a two day stand alone course.
Once you have completed the EMA Learning Export and International Business program you may consider further assessment and the opportunity to obtain either the Certificate and/or the Diploma of International Trade.
For those who wish to gain the Certificate and/or Diploma, they will enrol with the NZ School of Export and complete the assessment requirements of the eight modules for an additional fee of $460.00 per module. The assessments are either by open-book examination or for some modules (such as International Marketing) by the preparation of a practical Marketing Plan for your company in a named country. Many exporters find this application of the course content the most valuable part of the programme as they can call upon the expertise of tutors and advisers at the School for no extra cost.
